Easy Access – Simple Ways To Listen To Podcasts
In this era of audio information, accessing podcast content has never been so easy. Virtually thousands of podcasts are available on smart device apps and computers. The internet is the key to unlocking content; all you need for a quick connection is Wi-Fi or data on your phone. What is more, many are free to access, so they won’t put a ding in your monthly entertainment budget – can Nexflix beat that?
That being said, the avenue to your favorite podcast may differ slightly from platform to platform. Once you find a podcast platform or app that works best for you, you are able to sample thousands of podcasts from creators worldwide on virtually every subject imaginable.
To give you a running start in your journey to the next great episode, we have created a step by step guide for several mainstream platforms. This way you can spend less time on logistics, and more time digging into your next favorite podcast.
Tune into iTunes
If you are an Apple user, the iTunes platform is a fantastic choice for you to search for and tap into an incredibly diverse channel of podcasts. Chances are, you already have the iTunes app downloaded on your phone or desktop. Just in case you need an extra hand, try this for set up:
On the iTunes app on your computer, select Podcasts from the pop-up menu at the top left, then click on "Store".
Click on the search box at the top-right corner of the iTunes window. Then enter the name of the podcast you are looking for. You can also use a search word to find multiple podcasts on a specific topic.
Select Store in the top-right corner of the search results to select where to search.
Then press Enter and your search results will appear in the iTunes window.
After you have selected the podcast you would like to download, you can choose to download an episode or subscribe to the podcast:
To download an episode: Click the "Get" button next to the episode
To subscribe to a podcast: Click "Subscribe". When you subscribe to the podcast, iTunes will automatically download the latest episodes for you.
Check it Out on Spotify
Get your podcasts on the go with Spotify. They feature a mobile app as well as a desktop application. Spotify’s personalized “Episodes for You” suggestions make exploring fresh podcasts as simple as a tap of a screen! Looking for a specific podcast? You can simply follow one of the sets of instructions depending on what setup works best for you!
For Mobile and Tablet Access:
Click on the Search icon
Under Browse All, select "Podcasts and Shows"
Peruse top episodes, or browse by category by scrolling down the page
Select a podcast you are interested in, and then view its page with more details as well as the full list of available episodes
For Desktop and Web Player Access:
Click on the Search icon
Under Browse All, select “Podcasts and Shows”
Then browse featured episodes or scroll down to view by category
To listen, click the play button to begin listening, or select the title to see all episodes and more information
Via a Podcasts Own Website
A classic way to listen to a podcast is on a web browser, this option is available either from a smartphone, tablet or most commonly used from a computer. You have many options on this front, and likely already use a browser such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Safari in your everyday computer use, so it is generally a comfortable way to find your favorite podcast. It will be easier if you already know what specific podcast you would like to listen to so that you can go directly to the website. If you want to podcast-surf and get different suggestions based on podcasts you already listen to, then Spotify or iTunes might be a better option to start with. If you already know the website, then just follow these simple steps!
Search a website that features their podcast you enjoy
Navigate to the Podcast page on the website
Select an episode
Click play (If you are on a laptop remember to check that you speakers are turned on)
On your iPhone or iPad
If you use an iPhone or iPad, then you can very easily use the Apple podcasts app to listen to your favorite podcast, and discover amazing new ones every day! Apple now makes it even simpler for you as the Podcasts app is pre downloaded on your phone upon purchase. If for some reason you need to re-download it, you can simply do so on the app store. Once you have located it on your phone, or iPad, then proceed to:
Select the Podcast app
Select the magnifying glass icon in the navigations on the bottom bar to go to the search page
A search box will come up at the top, and beside it will be a magnifying glass icon. Click on this, then enter the title of the podcast that you would like to search for. Click the enter button on your computer's keyboard
Your search results will appear. Simply tap on the podcast you would like to try. Then you will be redirected to the homepage of that podcast
Now that you are on the homepage of the podcast, you will see more information, and the list of their most recent episodes
Click on a podcast to listen!
From an Android Phone
For all those Android users out there – don’t worry! We have not forgotten you! Far from it. If you rock using an Android device, check out the Google podcasts app. Don’t have the app yet? Then try these quick steps to tune in:
Go to the Play Store app and search “Google podcasts”
Click to install the Google podcast app
Open the app and then use the search box with the magnifying glass icon to enter the name of the podcast you want to listen to.
Choose the podcast you would like from the list of search results and click on it to be directed to the homepage of the podcast.
Now that you are on the homepage, you will see the recent episodes of this podcast, and you can simply tap on an episode to play it.

Pro Tip: Remember, if you are loving what you are listening to, tap on the subscribe button at the top of the page! This lets you subscribe to a podcast for free, and then the app will automatically download the latest episodes to your library. Hello convenience!
