6 Tips To Make The Most Out of Your Podcast Conference

Make The Most

Of It

Podcast Conferences are popping up all over the country. Make the most out of your experience with 6 helpful tips.

So, you want to meet other people that are as passionate about podcasting as you are and have heard how great podcast conferences are to be able to network and open more doors for you. You have booked your first conference and as you count down the days to this new event you have feelings of both excitement and nervousness.

BEFORE

Tip 1: Find out who is going to be there and what material is going to be presented.

This will help you to plan out your schedule with plenty of time. Decide which are the not-to-be-missed events and which will be an extra benefit. Making sure that your meetings get priority can be ensured if you email your connections ahead of time to set a dedicated time.

Tip 2: Let your listeners know you are going to be there.

If you let your listeners know you are going to be there you may even get a chance to meet those that are going as well. You could even plan a get-together with your listeners who are in the area but not able to attend. Meeting your listeners helps to create a stronger bond with your audience. Don’t forget to let them know not just through your podcast but on all your social media platforms.

DURING

Tip 3: Post to your social media accounts.

While you are at the event, you will probably be posting to your social media accounts so make sure to use the even hashtag and tag the event’s account too. Your account will be boosted as people will be looking for exciting things to comment on and share with others.

Tip 4: Give a great first impression.

Your podcast is an extension of you and you want to promote it by giving a great first impression. You will be interacting with many people. You will not only be able to network with other podcasters and guests, but you will speak with vendors, event staff and other attendees. Showing them who you are will attract them to your podcast.

AFTER THE CONFERENCE

Tip 5: Don’t reach out to new contacts straight away.

During the conference you will meet a lot of people and have some great discussions that you will want to follow-up on. You may think that you should send e-mails or messages to your new contacts straight away, so they don’t forget you, but it is best to hold off for a few days. Events can be quite demanding, and people need time to rest and get back to their daily routine. They will appreciate you giving them time to catch up with what they need to before they read anything new and are happy to reply.

Tip 6: Put into practice what you learned.

No doubt you will have learned a great deal at the event and made many notes, soset aside some time to go over them. Think about how you are going to use this new knowledge and how you can reach your goals, then put it into practice. Taking time to thank the speakers who shared their knowledge on your social media platforms leaves a good impression in the podcast world.

Finally, have a great time! You will not regret the experience and your podcast will benefit from what you learn and who you meet there. No matter which conference you decide to go to, make the most out of it!
